Summer Intensive

This is for the advanced dancer, during the Summer Intensive Camp, we offer the traditional classes as seen in the fall calendar; however, we also have additional classes to focus on technique, partnering, strength, stretch, variations, and contemporary ballet.


The first session is for Students 14 years old and up:

Class schedule: July 3, 2023, July 5, July 6, and July 8, 2023 (Closed on 7/4). This class schedule is slightly different so please check the calendar for when each class is scheduled this week.

This first session Includes all of the same classes as listed below, but this class is for more senior students.


The rest of the summer is for all advanced students, age is not a requirement, just skill level.


The remaining intensive classes run from July 10, 2023 to August 3, 2023 Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An introduction to ballet movement, musicality, rhythm, spatial awareness, and following directions. 


Progresses to development of technical ballet concepts:

  •   Turn Out
  •   Coordination
  •   Spatial Awareness
  •   Class Etiquette


Students learn foot positions, port de bras, and vocabulary.

Technique

Partnering

Partnering Focuses on boys and girls dancing together:


  • Technique
  • Support
  • Balance
  • Coordination
  • Lifting
  • Incorporating Pas de Deux

Every Monday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Continues to build core strength by focusing on core exercises.

Every Monday and Thursday from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.



Strength

Stretch

Our ballet conditioning and the stretching class focuses on strengthening, toning and stretching different parts of the body. The purpose of dance conditioning is to provide a training regimen to help dancers develop physical endurance, strength, flexibility and coordination. Our program comes in the form of floor barre, physical therapy exercises and additional forms of exercise such as yoga, Pilates or Gyrotonic®

Summer Schedule:

Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Bella dancing in our variations class at ACBT in Atlantic City, NJ

Variations are short dances from full-length ballets that include solos, duets, trios, or small groups.  In our class, extra time and attention is devoted to these pieces, to further develop the dancers, and present these pieces in our ballet performances.

Variations

Pirouette

A class to master the pirouette as well as all turns in the ballet technique.

Schedule:

Every Thursday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Contemporary is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several genres, including modern, jazz and classical ballet. It tends to combine strong but controlled legwork of ballet with modern dance, which stresses on torso. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid movement.
